At a cozy Christmas party, young Clara meets the mysterious magician Drosselmeyer, who gives her a nutcracker figurine. When the guests have all left and the house is asleep, Clara sneaks downstairs to look for the doll. But instead she finds Drosselmeyer, who takes her on a journey into a world full of magic: whimsical landscapes, snowdrifts and glittering confectionery. Here, toys come to life and the magic never ends. Peter Wright's production of this Christmas classic for young and old alike brings Tchaikovsky's astonishing orchestral score to life and adds glitter and glory to Julia Trevelyan Oman's historic staging.
